Health and Safety, our highest concern
Keeping our community healthy and safe is one of our highest concerns, it's a priority for our children and grandchildren.
Industrial Wind Turbines have several failures that would impact the safety and well being of those on the ground around them.
Here are several examples of current failures and how the turbine responds.
Ice Shed/Throw
The Setback distance becomes critical with the risk of Ice Shed/Throw. If a turbine is too close to a structure the risk of property damage and personal injury increase. Industrial Wind Turbines have been known to throw 400 pound ice chunks the distance of 1,000 feet.
LLCP Meeting Minutes
The Lincoln/Lancaster County Planning Department has been meeting over the past few months in order to draft new text for Lancaster County with regard to the Volkswind Farm.
Setbacks, what's too close and who decides?
Bottom line, the further away an Industrial sized wind turbine is from a residence/farm the better. Attached is information gathered on setbacks, what GE recommends, or doesn't and what is left up to the wind farm developers.
Health and Safety Work Group
The objective of the Health and Safety is to consider safety criteria and standards for the proper siting of large-scale wind energy facilities and transmission.
